Grantchester House, Hinchley way, Thames Ditton

This site was previously a prep school on 0.75 acres, with a large main building to the front and a tennis court and gardens to the rear. The building had been vacant some 7 years, had fallen into a very poor state of repair and had been badly vandalized. The building and immediately surrounding land was purchased by LRE and LREA in 2013, for use as a new Children’s Nursery for Stepping Stones Nursery who took a pre let with LRE on a new 10 year lease. Simultaneously the rear land was acquired by Borme Developments for a housing development of 3 houses STP.

The buildings were completely renovated with new rooms created for larger classrooms, new children’s and parents’ toilet facilities, and a kitchen. A large external play area was formed the full width of the site, in Astro Turf.

The project was opened in Easter 2014 and as of September was virtually full with 56 children.
